York University Student Volunteering Awards
We are pleased to say that Amy was one of the winners of the York University Student Volunteering Awards, 2019. The awards are held to recognise the contribution of student volunteers to the City and Amy was successful in the skills category.
Amy joined us in November 2016 and started her volunteering in St Mary's, helping to host the object handling role as part of the temporary exhibition run during the re-fit. She then went on to learn the new JORVIK role, undertaking some of the more complex volunteer training we have delivered during circumstances which (with the re-fit on-going) meant there were naturally various changes and unexpected events the volunteers needed to adapt to during the training and the first few weeks of the Centre opening.
Amy was one of the first people to deliver the role in the new JORVIK. She coped brilliantly well, delivering accurate and engaging volunteering, offering useful feedback, adapting to all the changes we requested. As she has developed through her volunteering she has often been one of the first volunteers to offer help when additional assistance has been needed and has become one of a trusted team of established hands who have helped to welcome and train new volunteers to the role.
Well done Amy!
