Desk-based Assessments

In almost all cases, Desk-based Assessments or Heritage Statements as they are often referred, are required to support a planning application.

Desk-based assessmentsTheir main aim is to provide an appraisal of the sites archaeological potential based on current information and also form base line studies for larger projects requiring environmental impact assessments. York Archaeological Trust can carry out a search of the relevant historic environment record and a review of relevant cartographic, photographic and documentary sources to establish cultural heritage, opportunities and constraints, and the presence of locally and nationally designated heritage assets.
