The Integrated Archaeological Database System (IADB) is
the system developed and used by York Archaeological Trust
for all aspects of recording, analysis, archiving and online
publication of the Trust's excavation and fieldwork.
Our system ensures the most effective, efficient recording
of archaeological data and publication.
The main features of the IADB include:
-
Tools for creating, editing and viewing
stratigraphic matrices, digitised single context plans
and digitised sections.
-
Fully indexed databases of digital images
(including photographs and x-rays) and embedded files
such as MS Word, PDF and Excel documents.
-
A wide range of access scenarios from
'read-only' through to full administrative access.
Recent examples of online publications using the IADB can
be viewed at www.yorkarchaeology.co.uk/ayw and www.silchester.reading.ac.uk/victorians
The IADB is also in use through our partnerships with the
Silchester Town Life Project at Reading University, excavations
at Butrint, Albania, by the Butrint Foundation and with
Edinburgh City Council Archaeology Service.
IADB is available for sale. To discuss purchasing a copy
