Finds Research and Curatorial Services

A wide range of services is offered by York Archaeological Trust relating to the assessment, analysis, recording and care of archaeological artefacts and pottery.

The in-house researchers and curatorial staff specialise in pottery, small finds, ceramic building materials and collection care. After over thirty years' experience in this field, the team are able to offer expertise on the most unusual and demanding objects.

Services offered by this department include:

  • Rapid assessment of artefact assemblages for conservation and research
  • Photographic and computer-based recording service for finds and pottery
  • Pottery spot-dating
  • Preparation of material for on-line publication
