Accommodation
| Self-catering accommodation is available to trainees and placements from 19th June 2005. The accommodation is at the University of York campus, Heslington, York in a modern self-contained 11-bedded house. Single rooms are available with wash-hand basins (all bedding is supplied but bring your own towels), shared toilets, bath and shower rooms and fully fitted kitchen with dining area. All the rooms and the shared front door are lockable. On-site car parking is available next to the accommodation. |
| There is an on-site convenience store, laundrette, bar and fast-food outlet. You also have the use of University facilities including the cafeteria in the Halls of Residence. The accommodation is a 5-minute walk from Heslington village with shops, banks, pubs and buses to York. There is a regular bus service from campus to the excavation site. The site is 45 minutes away on foot, or bring your bike (20 minutes). |

Trainees book a room from Sunday to Sunday, allowing time to arrive and
to settle in on the Sunday before their training course begins, departing
on the morning of the Sunday after their course ends. |

Alternatively, there is a wide range of hostels, university campus rooms, bed and breakfast establishments and hotels for your accommodation in York. They have a correspondingly wide range of prices; the cheapest, in a 24 bedded, shared, youth hostel, is about £14 per night; single university rooms, about 1 mile from the town centre, are about £21 per night/£140 per 7 day week; and bed & breakfast/small hotels start at about £25.00 per person per night.
