Equipment

The Community Archaeologist manages and maintains a Community Resource of equipment that local groups can borrow from for their projects. The Community Resource includes:

  • Field survey equipment (tapes, ranging poles, survey arrows, maps)
  • A level, tripod and staff for recording ground levels
  • Geophysical survey equipment
  • GPS (Global Positioning System) Navigators for recording spot finds
  • Health and Safety (PPE) equipment (Hi-visibility vests and hard hats)
  • A digital camera
  • A display unit for exhibitions
  • Digital projector
  • Microphone for meetings and lectures

Fieldwork Support

The Community Archaeologist is also an experienced field archaeologist and can supervise community surveys, fieldwalking, geophysical surveys and small scale excavations where you need help.
