PROJECT SUPERVISOR

Salary £18,500 – £20,500 pa dependent on experience

(37 hour week, 28 days holiday including bank holidays)

The role

Due to a continuing increase in commercial, community and research projects, we require an additional Project Supervisor,  based in our Sheffield office. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of UK professional archaeology and will have worked for at least two years in a professional archaeological organisation. The successful candidate will have good experience of a wide range of archaeological projects, site types and periods will understand and the role of professional archaeology within the planning system. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a commitment to safe working practice.

Applicants will need to demonstrate evidence of a strong client focus, a dynamic and proactive approach to working, and a commitment and ongoing professional development. Experience of staff supervision is preferred.

PROJECT OFFICER – BUILT HERITAGE

Salary: £21,000- £25,738 depending upon experience

(37 hour week, 28 days holiday including bank holidays)

The role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced heritage professional to help us expand our team and deliver a range of consulting and contracting services in the sphere of the built environment. The role may be based either in our York or Sheffield offices, but projects work will be national in scope. This is a permanent position with a 3-month probationary period. The successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the planning process and current best practice and approaches towards the historic environment. The role requires experience in research, fieldwork recording and the analysis of a range of historic buildings as well as a wider understanding of the built environment including issues of setting.

Public outreach activities will also form an integral part of this role. The York Archaeological Trust is an educational charity with a clear remit for enhancing public engagement with archaeology and heritage.

A degree in Buildings Archaeology, Built Heritage or equivalent experience is essential. A driving license is essential, and CIfA or IHBC membership is preferred.
