When archaeologists were doing some work at a pub near York they found
the skeleton of a young man.
As they carefully cleaned the soil away from his bones
they found a copper ring still on his finger. It had probably once had
a piece of glass in the middle but this must fallen out and got lost.
A pottery jar was also found with him, which might have once held food
for his journey to the after-life.
We don't know why he died, but he lived near a big Roman
road so he might have seen the Roman armies marching to their headquarters
at York, or even the Emperor when he came to visit.
You can see his ring at the Fox and Roman pub in Dringhouses, York.
