"Oh no! The chain broke!"

This might have been the cry sometime in the early 1400s when someone was filling this bucket from a well behind a medieval hall.

There was nothing they could do because the well was too deep, and so the bucket and chain stayed buried in the mud for 600 years until archaeologists found it.
